Maybank launched its provincial bank in Siem Reap

Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) which opened its third branch in Phnom Penh early this year, it started opening its first provincial branch in Siem Reap province. That is the fourth branch operating since Maybank set up its branch in Cambodia in 1993.

Chou Teong Boon, branch manager, was quoted by the Phnom Penh Post as saying that Siem Reap was chosen as the first provincial outlet primarily because of the availability of a good location in the city center on Tep Vont Street.

He added that “We are expanding into the provinces to give better coverage and reach for Maybank,” and adding that, “And the Siem Reap branch will also serve as a learning centre for our proposed provincial expansion.”

13 other countries in which Maybank is operating are Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, Papua New Guinea, Brunei, Pakistan, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, United Kingdom and the United States.

Maybank in Cambodia was established in December 1993 with the opening of its first branch in Phnom Penh. With its wide range of products and services, it has become the preferred financier of many Malaysians and Singaporean owned corporations investing in Cambodia’s infrastructure development and service sectors.
